We hit this each year with lunch - we have to send in the order to the vendor a week ahead of time and in between that and the event, we have teams that have quit the event, or renamed the event, or been renamed by admins...
We have team merge data, which is good (though I'm curious what happens if, i.e. T1 and T2 get merged to T3, then T3 to T4, or other weird multi-step cases) but without more rename/deletion info we can't properly map team lunch orders to the actual teams day-of.
