Typos

Even after all the year, i always find typos every few days, but only rather randomly when looking up some info.

Does anybody know of a good & free spell-checking tool, that would not spit out too many false positives?

Same for me. :) If I were to fix this globally, perhaps I would just load the whole udo file into an editor which underlines unknown words (and can be taught new ones), like Google Docs or so.

The problem with any online tool is, that there is not a single udo file, but lots of small files (about 2000 or so). Uploading them would be rather cumbersome. I would prefer some commandline tool that i can run on them.

There is a mode for udo that can generate a single output file from all input files (using --udo as output format). That will current generated a file of ~10mb, with ~388100 lines

But then we have the next problem: such a file will contain both german and english texts. Not very well suited to feed it through some spellchecker :( Any idea how to solve that?

This problem just keeps on giving.

I think your initial approach would work better then -- i.e. create some script using e.g. aspell or something similar and repeatedly run it after fixing a word / adding the word to its vocabulary.
