This needs to be handled better, but in the meantime, if you install the Edge deb file from Microsoft the installer runs fine.

I reverted the change and then the entire script worked without any issue. You need a conditional if this variable is not set use the /var/. . . location.

Can confirm the bug. A colleague of mine is also affected. Using older version of script was successfull (Ubuntu 24)

Workaround: Use older script version - oneliner:
