Issue Description

Hi, I hope you are well. I was trying to create a USB to build a hackintosh. While on a Surface Pro tablet, it built the USB ok, but I need to back up stuff first, so I'm trying on a different laptop, but when I try to build the key, I'm getting the below error. I've updated to the latest version. Any ideas?

Error: Recovery download failed: Failed to download macrecovery.py: <urlopen error [SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] certificate verify failed: unable to get local issuer certificate (_ssl.c:1082)>

same problem on T490, sometimes can't grab kexts as well. Latest commit. But works on my desktop. Strange

One thing I noticed was that in the program window, it's showing v1.3.0, even though I downloaded what is supposedly v1.4.0. I'm wondering if the certificate fail errors might be due to that, since it's one of the thing listed as fixed in 1.4.0?

It may be worth attempting to clone the repository in full with GIT, doing this gave me the latest version.

I read on the Hackintosh forum on Reddit last night that the developer mentioned that while it may say 1.3.0 in the application, that it actually was 1.4.0, and that he'd just missed updating the text field. Still getting the same download failures, I'm now wondering if maybe Apple has done something on their end to block this...

[update] I just tried cloning the repo, it definitely gave a newer version than the "1.4.0" download version, however I still ran into the 'recovery download unavailable' problem that the OP experienced. Hopefully it's something the developer can figure out.

So I just tried this on my Surface Pro 6 (with the v1.3.0/1.4.0 downloaded version). Unlike on my Surface Pro 3, this time it proceeded to the point where it goes to download the recovery image from Apple... and then just sat there. I tried three different sized USB drives, formatted FAT32, in case there was a problem with one of them. Same issue for each of them. I finally let it run from about 9:00pm last night until almost 11am this morning, and the progress bar is still sitting at the 10% mark, right where it was when it was supposed to begin downloading the recovery image from Apple. It seems that this application still needs some work. I really hope the developer can work out the kinks because this seems like the perfect solution for those of us who don't have the time, patience, or knowledge to get a Hackintosh up & running on our own.
