Simple GNOME utility for working with local PDF files

Merge PDFs, organize pages, extract page ranges, split documents, compress files, add watermarks, and edit metadata, all without relying on online services.

How to install

AUR  

Arch based distributions can install Shears from the AUR, or using an aurhelper such as yay: yay -S shears

Flatpak

Shears can be built and installed locally with Flatpak Builder:

flatpak-builder --user --install --install-deps-from=flathub build-dir build-aux/com.fvtronics.shears.json --force-clean

Build from source

Shears uses the meson build system. Run the following commands to clone Shears and initialize the build:

git clone https://codeberg.org/fvtronics/shears.git
cd shears
meson setup build

To install the built package on your system, run the following command:

meson install -C build

Translation

This project's translations are handled by Codeberg Translate, a community-hosted instance of Weblate.

New languages and translation improvements are appreciated.
