Pair Programming

Instructions

Welcome to the Lozupone Lab Pair Programming repo. Each week, please submit an issue before pair programming, using the following template:

  1. Task
  2. Priority
  3. Obstacles
  4. Expertise needed
  5. Other info (link to existing attempts)

Example

Example 1

  1. I need to polish a repo for my paper
  2. HIGH - submitting next week!!
  3. Need external eyes on code
  4. Someone with experience publishing nice repos
  5. Here is a link to my github repo: LINK

Example 2

  1. Adding facets to ggplot
  2. medium - I could figure it out my own
  3. I don't know how to add facets
  4. Someone who's made lots of ggplot plots
  5. I haven't tried anything yet and broke my repo - please help...

Structure of meeting:

BEFORE - submit issue on GitHub

  1. 2:00-2:05 minutes at start going over each person's task

  2. 2:05-2:10 Designate groups

    • could just be pairs
    • could be one big group
  3. 2:10-2:45 Break out into groups for work

  4. 2:45-2:50 Summarize what was done in groups

  5. 2:50-3:00 - come back into whole meeting group, discuss:

    A. What was helpful

    B. Solutions

    C. Things that could be contributed to a lab core functions repo
