Summary

Closes #459

First cut of the literature library covering 2023–2025 work relevant to Open-LIFU and adjacent FUS research.

  • Added a brief introduction explaining the scope of the literature library and how contributors can suggest additions
  • Added a structured markdown table for primary research papers with columns for:
    • Citation
    • Indication
    • Sonication target
    • Key dose / parameter details
    • Primary outcome
    • Sample size
    • Open-access link
    • PubMed link
  • Included 32 papers from 2023–2025
  • Added a separate section for 4 review papers
  • Added abbreviation footnotes

Review notes

The table includes:

  • Openwater / partner relevant work
  • Related human neuromodulation studies across depression, anxiety, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, pain, reward, motor cortex, and sensory systems
  • Adjacent FUS applications including BBB opening, sonobiopsy, glioma drug delivery, and FUS ablation
  • Review papers grouped separately from primary studies

Pending maintainer review. Please let me know if you'd like any changes to the scope / formatting / level of detail.

The check fails on "Feld." This is the author's last name in Riis 2024 and is not a typo.

You can add the document to the codespell exclude:

exclude: .*\.ipynb # exclude notebooks because images are sometimes captured in spell check
